I have chosen Sandton City in Johannesburg. My stocks and flows are capital, people and energy (electricity). Sandton City is relatively small area with a lot of capital (as stock), the result of the capital increases construction in the area. As a result there are lots of high rise buildings in the area. This leads to an increased flow of people (as flow) coming into the city at the start of each business day and and an outflow of people at the end of the business day. Sandton City and Johannesburg in general experience very cold winters and very hot summers, this results in use of energy (electricity as a flow) to control temperature inside the buildings, keep them cool in summer and warm in winter, (because of the high flow of people in and out of the city), the amount of energy required is a lot. The city can benefit from implementing the 3for2 system in the construction of future buildings to cope with the ever increasing flow of people into and out of the city. The city can also invest in other sources of energy (solar in summer) to help reduce the amount of energy the city gets from the power grid. This will result in increases in capital in the future.
