Provisioning services: La Mariposa Reservoir was built on the course of the El Valle River, has a capacity of 8,700,000 cubic meters and is located 8 km from Caracas. It was built in the 1940s with the purpose of supplying drinking water to the capital city. Regulating services: The Avila National Park is a mountain also known as “the lung of Caracas” that has an area of more than 85,000 hectares of wooded area that provides purified air to the inhabitants of the city. Habitat or Supporting services: The Botanical Garden of Caracas is an extensive green area of the city that houses more than 2,500 species of plants of which 50% are from Venezuela, the rest coming from Central America, Africa, India and other regions of Asia and South America. Cultural services: The “Parque Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda” is a recreation park for the inhabitants of the Venezuelan capital and a site of tourist interest for those visitors to the city. It has extensive green areas where people can be distracted by taking various outdoor exercises. In addition, the park has cultural buildings such as a library and a concert hall, which allows citizens to develop their culture.
