FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"

Visible Information This picture shows visible information such as that the weather is cool(clouds, vegetation type),the fact that the neighborhood is tightly packed and informally built(housing is small, densely built, improvised materials) and the fact that there is a dire lack of public and green space(streets are narrow, vegetation is almost inexistent) despite having a sizable population(rows upon rows of small dense housing). Invisible Information: The lack of green spaces coupled with the lack of mass transport serve as testament to the high levels of airpollution+groundpollution this sector experiences but underreports. Furthermore, the improvised nature of the sector evidenced by the improvised buildings and lack of public space, inform us that these citizens might lack basic grid based public services,so they might have to commute long distances to enjoy the services of planned neighborhoods (education, parks, mass transit,electricity...). The last invisible information discussed can become knowledge telling us as a result of the lack of planning this sector has received, citizens must go on long commutes to access basic services. This then contributes to the neighborhoods poverty, pollution, and "kills" quality of life. The local government should use this information to plan services in this neighborhood as well as mass transit;really integrating CiudadBolivar to all Bogota.
