Step1:Sydney,Melbourne,Vancouver,Zurich,Singapore. Step2/Step3: 1)Access to public services;Universal access to electricity, running water, sewage treatment, trash collection, healthcare, and education services. Bogotá:Access to public services is not universal.Makeshift neighborhoods have to be formalized or their inhabitants moved to sustainably planned housing. 2)Integration with local nature;Includes the preservation+accessibility of local bodies of water, vegetation, and wildlife with the goal of giving both nature and people some breathingspace. Bogotá:The citie’s forested mountains are not taken advantege off.A system of parks/trails allong the mountains could bring citizens closer to nature while helping preserve these from ilegalsettlements. 3)QualityTransportation;Combining both mass transit(metro, rail,BRT,etc)and individual methods of transportation(cycling, walking, private vehicles, etc) in order to reduce traveltime and greenhousegasses. Bogotá:While it has one of LatinAmericas best cycling networks, its mass transit is overflowed and underfunded.Local and regional rail netwroks should be revived/built. 4)Thoughtful and plentiful public space;Creating spaces where citizens from all walks of life can converge and relax. Bogotá:Due to improvised growth, the city lacks public space. Therefore, building and zoning plans should demand a minimum% of public space/green areas be built alongside new projects. 5)Safety;All citizens should feel safe to walk wherever they want, whenever they want, and not feel/be at risk. Bogotá:Safety remains one of the cities greatest shortcomings.Social programs, more efficient law inforcmenet, and improvements in illumination are needed.
