The image captures the view from my balcony at around 8 pm in the afternoon. As one can see, the impact of infrastructure is evident. The 1st thing to be noticed is the presence of artificial lighting (energy infrastructure) which allows people to extend the day length ad infinitum, by providing them with the most essential tool: sight. Moreover, the street lamps do the same thing, as well as offering some comfort for people traveling by night. The use of electricity is also present in the cranes in the background which use electric motors and hydraulic systems. This improves their lifting capabilities, thus allowing for bigger and more complex designs - factor which has an obvious say in the development of the urban landscape. In the foreground, an obvious effect of the transport infrastructure, namely the presence of a parking lot which requires (in this case) the use of a street-level unoccupied plot – can be spotted. This also testifies to the expanding amount of traveling using private-vehicles which, as of now, will lead to the increase of air pollution and an even more intense need of a sustainable approach to design.
