This building is one of many buildings in the new project, City Walk. The idea was brought to Riyadh from the city of Dubai, where a new attractive real estate development project was introduced. Apart from the idea that was brought from a different economical city, the crane was imported, as part of the construction tools, and this is an example of construction materials that not be produced locally. The constructions involve imported materials such a sanitary fixtures, marbles, ceramic and lighting. Which can be produced locally but tis is a part of how globalization work. The demand of certain materials may force the country either import or produce locally, for example, producing cranes could be of high complexity and yield high fixed cost that local demand may not justify. Also, some of the human forces such as engineers and labors are not local and this is an area where Saudi can excel at in the future. Constructions in Saudi involve importing many materials from different parts of the world. and this is not the case couple of decades ago when the techniques were completely basic, yet many materials from that era are manufactured locally today.
