This picture shows the electricity cables are connected in underground in Chennai, Tamilnadu. The major connection(Transmission grid) from electricity plant will be in underground. Then from the transmission grid, the cables are connected to the transformer(above the ground), then it is distributed to primary(Industries, offices) and secondary(residential) customers.
