NAME – JAYASHREE C CITY – CHENNAI, TAMILNADU, INDIA Provisioning services – periphery of the city comprises of huge agricultural land along with the traditional communities, huge acres of mango and coconut grooves, mangroves along the coast provides food for human consumption. Regulating services - Area is less developed and less dense which also results in existence of huge amount of trees. Due to these trees Climate is less polluted and cool. Trees along the river prevents flooding and soil erosion which is beneficial for agricultural area surrounding it. Habitat or supporting services- Pallikaranai marshland (an ecologically sensitive area) in the periphery of the city is a house to wide variety of flora and fauna. Also the various lakes, river system and forest areas houses animals like deer, blackbuck, crocodile etc. Cultural services – Chennai is a coastal city with a huge stretch of sea (Bay of Bengal) almost running parallel to the entire city. Access to coast at various points, development of beaches, interactive social spaces along the coastal stretch, privatisation of beaches by resorts and theme parks, boat houses are major tourist attractions in the city. It forms a major element for the imageability of the city
