FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2020-08-22 by Henry Navas
This photo is of the Plaza Tomás Lander, east of the bus terminal. With respect to the visible information, we can see that it is a transit area. The plaza represents a meeting place where people usually park, to talk and share. We can see the two directions of the street, the houses near the square and a mini shopping center at the end of it. On the subject of invisible information, I can mention: 1. The lack of security in the area. Due to its geographical location, it is usually the center of constant criminal activity. 2. The inaccessibility to public transport. In spite of being close to the bus terminal, this is an area where public transport is not usually available, due to the insecurity here. By selecting problem #1, we can turn this information into knowledge if we place security cameras around the plaza, as well as more lighting, with which we could observe the hours when crimes are usually highest and so the police can act more effectively. This in turn would bring back the traffic of public transport and would significantly improve the quality of life of the neighbors.
