In my experience, these are the five fundamental aspects of great, livable cities: - Accessibility and sustainable mobility, affordable for all. - Diverse and resilient local economy. - Lively public spaces that take people out of their houses to live the city. - Affordability and quality for basic needs, like health, education, food, etc. - Connection to its past and cultural legacy. In that sense, my top 5 cities are: Vienna, Austria Melbourne, Australia Osaka, Japan Copenhagen, Denmark Milano, Italy In terms of the five characteristics listed above, my city Maracaibo shows backwardness in all of them. Since mobility and accessibility are, to me, the most important aspects of livability, I would first invest in my city's transit system. Maracaibo is an extensive city that has no method of public transportation apart from a few lines of a subway, a project which never saw its conclusion. After making Maracaibo accessible again, I think all the other characteristics will follow like a domino effect. In the picture, it can be seen a private vehicle been used as a form of public transport and that is the main source of mobility for Maracaibo inhabitants.
