2. The most significant UHI effect that I can see is how colder it feels in the mountains surrounding San Antonio, which many people go to for exercise (walking, hiking). In picture on the left, we can see San Antonio de los Altos, which is not as dense as other cities but it does have a lot of buildings and the transport is mainly motorized. In the one on the right, we can see a view of the rural areas at the other side of the mountain, where there are less building density and higher vegetation. 3. One of the most important factors that enhance UHI effect is traffic. In Caracas (which replicates the dynamics of the surrounding areas) 86% of travels are done with motorized vehicles (OMU, 2014), which contributes to heat increase in the area. I believe in walking as a mean of transport and in green mobility, so I think that policies should aim to encourage those alternative means that could decrease heat and pollution significantly. 4. There are no policies in my area or the surroundings that aim to reduce the UHI effect.
