Tourists (entering): Munich is very attractive and famous. The flow of visitors is rising every year. 2019 was a new record with around 8,8 million guests. According to the city of Munich, 57% of the visitors are from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This leads also to a big flow of money from the tourists. People (staying and leaving) Munich is also very attractive for people who want to live and work in this City. The Bavarian Ministry for Statistics announces the numbers yearly and it is easy to observe that the population grew since 2000 for more than 250,000 people. Beside that, more and more people are leaving the City. The reason is the high cost of living. The square meter of a house or flat is around 8,000 EUR. Attractiveness (staying) The personal security, good job perspectives and an ideal location for reachability in the heart of Europe is underlying this development. Munich has already a nick name called ‘Isar Valley’ because of many firms in the IT, semiconductor, Aerospace and Car manufacturing sectors. The city is able to start new future projects in cooperation with these firms. One of these projects is a smart city residential district.
