This picture was taken at the Danube river on the border between Germany and Austria. It is the sluice `Jochenstein'. When you follow the Danube river you will see many of the sluices in different countries. Governments in the past already recognized the importance and effectiveness of renewable electricity through water. However the dependency is not very high. The share of renewable energies is in Germany around 14 % at all in the moment. But Bavaria, the state, where this construction is build, has a share of around 49 % renewable energies. In the future the goal is to raise renewable energy. Another interesting fact is, that a sluice on a river can have political impact on following regions or countries, because it has a regulation function as well. Mostly these kind of constructions had a big impact on the natural river shape.
