As far as the globalization in construction processes, Argentina presents a particularity given to the strict importation restrictions or importation taxes overtime and due to the national production orientated to cover almost all basic structural materials. The majority of the imported material flows corresponds to building components such as floor finishing, cladding, cooling machinery, some electrical components, etc. In the refurbishment of the apartment depicted I used national materials except the imported kitchen countertop made by silestone. Silestone is a Spanish trade mark registered by Consentino S.A. It is a combination of natural quartz and other raw materials that are extraordinarily hard and resilient. It is largely imported in Argentina and distributed by various providers. Over the last eight years has gained a large piece of the difficult local market as far as kitchen and bathroom countertops are concerned because of its durability and fine finishing.
