Livable cities - Barcelona - Londres - Curitiba - Montevideo - Cuenca Characteristics of livable cities - Economic stability - Safety against crime and violence - Clean environment - Access to health and education services - Diverse - My city, Cuenca, is a middle-size city which had a controlled and slow development until mid 20th century but it has expanded unnecessarily over the last decades. It is considered safe compared with other Ecuadorian cities, however it is worsening. The city has large residential areas and at the same time it lacks a good planning for production and commerce. There is also a lot to do in terms of environmental protection and reparation. While access to health and education is ample, there are zones that have grown in the periphery with limited physical and/or economic access.
