FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2020-08-15 by Maria Katzagiannaki
1. On the left we see part of the Palermo Parks and on the right the Libertador Avenue. In between we have the promenade zone that consists of a lane for pedestrians and right next to it two bicycle lanes both full of bikers. In the crossing of the two avenues there is an important marble monument behind which we see the city’s Eco Park bordering the urban front of the ¨Indian Republic¨ Street that continues on the left side of Libertador and primarily consists of residential buildings. 2. From the bikers comes the invisible information of their starting point and the itinerary stored in the mobile phone. From the cars comes the invisible information of their circulation permission emitted online that the covid emergency established as obligatory. 3. Data about the starting point of the bikers helps us identify the neighborhoods from which people come from and indicates the level of centrality of the parks, their preferred destination for leisure or training and possibly a lack of similar options in their neighborhoods. Knowledge driven out the mobility patterns can help us reinforce and adequate the network of bicycle lanes thus contributing to the sustainability and livability of the city.
