1 - According to the IEA Sankey Diagram, the main fossil fuels used in Brazil are oil and biofuels and waste production. Another important energy source is hydro production. 2 - Transport has the main consumption for oil (77%) and the industry uses more biofuels and waste (44%) than other sources. 3 - Brazil has a wide potencial of producing and implementing renewable sources of energy, especially due to its large area and existing biodiversity of landscaping qualities. Since one of the main causes of consumption indicated by the Sankey Diagram is by transport means, the most effective strategies should focus on a cost benefit sustainable option, due to the large amout of infrastructure needed to connect the large country area. Unfortunatly, due to the automobilistic industry pressure, especially after the 50's, many railway tracks were put in disuse or abandoned. Nowadays, it would be smart to reopen these railroads, implementing new tecnologies and creative mobility strategies from the smallest to larges scale, including local transport to interregional cargo transportion by using the country's existing potencialities of energy production and mix a variety of usage to increase efficiency as well as a diverse social job support.
