Greetings ! I am Sahit from Vijayawada, India. 1. I had observed that there is significant and in some cases abnormal temperature differences have been recorded in US cities and their surrounding rural areas due to UHI effect. I think this was due to the advancement (not in a sustainable way) of those metro cities when compared to that of their surrounding rural areas. 2. Area : Viayawada, AndhraPradesh (India). The common effects of UHI on people observed due to heat waves and extreme temperature were increased body temperature, headache, dizziness, fatigue, rapid heartbeat, absence of sweating, fluctuating blood pressure and irritability etc. 3. To mitigate UHI effect, I would propose compulsory green rating for all major constructions, Increase green cover by afforestation at outskirts & roof top gardening in urban areas, promoting public transport such as light metro depending on the demographics, providing walk ways and cycling lanes on streets at first and improve/implement other measures depending on the results from the past measures. 4. At present, the policy makers were not taking UHI into consideration. But, earlier in the construction of proposed self sustainable, self financing, smart capital city Amaravati project, the then policy makers(2014-2019) have taken UHIintoconsideration.
