After several power outages nationwide in Venezuela, I was able to realize the value of electricity in my city Caracas. Caracas has suffered frequent power outages in recent years. The hardest happened in March 2019 and lasted 1 month in which we had cuts of up to 2 consecutive days. Back then, multi-family buildings did not have access to water because the pumps could not operate without electricity. Similarly, we lost the communication signal, internet and telephone. And also, the ability to cook, for those who used electric burners. Classes and assignments were suspended. The subway stopped working. And even getting food was another problem. The bank cards could not be used and the food could not be stored because the refrigerators did not work. Thus, it is important to invest in electrical infrastructure in Venezuela. Especially that which is environmentally sustainable. We need alternative energy sources to avoid another collapse like the one that occurred in 2019.
