FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2020-08-04 by Corina Fraile
This picture shows a highly built area with low traffic on the roads that connect them. A few tower cranes in nearby construction sites are shown. An express road can be seen at the bottom, and there is little to no traffic. Two slightly bigger constructions can be appreciated on the right side of the main road, which are two important malls. Taller buildings can be seen on the back. The farther from the point the picture was taken, the greener the main road looks. The green also highlights the right side of the picture and is clearly visible on the Avila Mountain in the back. Invisible information: - The tower cranes indicate economic growth in the area and, if those buildings are completed, they will draw investments to this zone, which will increase the value of nearby buildings. - The two malls and the comercial activity that goes with them indicate human dynamics. They indicate an area that is visited by many. All this visible information can be used to make assumptions of traffic, it can be used by business owners to locate their business, and in general by any investor who's looking for a suitable area for business.
