Part of the decay of Venezuela as a country, is due to excessive regulation of the construction and supplies: at the beginning of the decade, with a series of laws and decrees, construction companies were forced to use local material to protect the country's industry, then the government proceeded to expropriate all the manufacturers. Their lack of competence destroyed those companies, leaving the Venezuelan construction field almost completely stagnant and the constructors fighting for the few supplies they could get. The government permitted the import of supplies from ally countries like Turkey and Iran, but only for public constructions. All this paved the way for the black market to appear: people began to contraband Colombian cement, steel, and pipelines to keep constructing, impacting directly in the Venezuelan industry. Nowadays, the construction field in Venezuela has almost completely stopped, so you cannot see the effects of a globalized economy in the construction, simply because there are no constructions ongoing. In the picture, you can see 28 tons of Colombian cement been seized by the Venezuelan forces. It was taken in 2014 and published by Government entities.
