This is the Birregurra main street, a regional town of <1000 people near Colac. Visible information includes the number of cars parked/car spaces on the street, number of trips, different types of vehicles using this road, number of pedestrians and number of shops. Invisible information contained in this photo is the demographic of road users (age/gender/occupation), where the cars are going to/from and at what time of the day. As an agricultural community, it is expected that most road users are farmers and live in the area but others may use this road to travel between other small towns. Secondly, climatic conditions can be extracted out of the visible information, such as the number of rainy/sunny/cloudy days and the quantity of rainfall. This can help with the planning of road infrastructure as well as predicting the agricultural yields for the season. By understanding this information, the road can be maintained at certain times and road infrastructure (pedestrian crossings/road signs/speed limits/traffic lights) can be effectively installed. This will significantly increase the safety of residents and visitors, contributing to a more liveable urban space. Modern, maintained roads will provide greater safety for road traffic and allow rainfall to drain away reducing road
