FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2020-08-02 by Arhan Menon
Visible information includes the geography and the types of buildings. Edinburgh, UK, is a hilly city, so for that reason, the castle was on high ground. This is an old city and you can tell through the Victorian architecture. When you zoom in, it is evident that there are not many cars. Invisible data can show us that a lot of people use public transport because not many cars are visible. Another form of invisible data is the potential use of buildings that we can infer from the architecture. For instance, some are residential, some are government, some are office, etc. Now that we can infer that a lot of people use public transport, we can take steps to make sure that it is equitable for everyone and more efficient. We can also take steps to make Edinburgh more walking friendly to complement the transit improvements.
