The major land use of the region where I live is rainforest conservation with 80% of the of surrounding land assigned to this. There are some residents in those rainforests regions who seek an electricity connection from the main electrical grid. to improves their lives and land values. However, there are other residents including those who live in those rainforest regions who oppose the electricity connection. This is because that rainforest is 20 million years continuous rainforest and is special in global terms & if electricity is out through into that area then inevitable infrastructure expectation and growth will occur. Diminishing the rainforest to a playground for tourists. As shown by the attached photo which shows an urban region which 100 years ago was also 20-million-year-old low land rainforest but now is a market surrounded by exotic large trees originally from India. Giving a look of original rainforest where people live but really an urban landscape with no valuable 20-million-year rainforest. As there recently was. In summary, the concern is that a desired for people to have electricity will open up a 20 million year rainforest to urban and agricultural growth.
