What ecosystem services do you have in and around your living area? Give at least one example for each of the four types of ecosystem services. Make clear in your answer where you can find the ecosystem service and what the ecosystem offers to your living area. To support your answers you are asked to provide one or more images for every example that describe the respective services. a. Provisioning services There are plenty here in the Philippines – mainly around food from the sea and land. Increasingly wind, sea, solar and particularly hydro and geothermal energy b. Regulating services We have high rhetoric when it comes to climate regulation, but little practice. There are increasing attempts to regulate and practice controls – but to little avail. c. Habitat or Supporting services Large rivers, volcanic eruptions, mangroves and tropical monsoons are part of the habitat systems d. Cultural services The sea and environment are culturally important to Filipinos – the concept of sea and their renewing volcanos are part of their religious beliefs. Increasingly these resources are captured for recreation and economic use
