This is an example of steel reinforced concrete being used in construction in the UK. The steel is very likely to have been imported from China despite there being a number of steel works in the uk as it is much cheaper and readily available. The importation of this steel has a negative effect on the British steel companies as the demand for their products is greatly reduced and it is highly likely that they will go out of business before the supply of steel runs out.
