Examples of ecosystems will be given based on the village called Arabá, in the municipality of Ouroeste, Brazil, and also in its surroundings, where the Rio Grande is found, a natural boundary between the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. a. Provisioning services: The immediate surroundings of the village are abundant with clean streams and fertile soil, supplying the village with drinking water and being used for sugarcane plantations, fruit cultivation, irrigation, and cattle pasture. The Rio Grande is also a source of energy, due to the hydroelectric plant installed in it. b. Regulating services: The vegetation around the village is also important to moderate the strong winds generated during times of severe storms. c. Habitat or Supporting services: The interconnecting areas between streams and the Rio Grande are the nursery for many species of fish. As an intersection between the biomes of the Brazilian cerrado and the Atlantic forest, the native forest of the river provides a great diversity of fauna and flora. d. Cultural services: Cultural services are provided by several areas of the regional ecosystem, mainly those related to tourism, such as fishing, and also those related to recreation, mental, and physical health, as hiking.
