Please note that photo is not taken by me and easy accessible on the website, www.melrosearch.co.za Melrose Arch precinct is a mixed use urban development. This concept was introduced first in South Africa in 2001. The precinct was and still developing in phases. The last phase is predicted to be completed in 2020. Melrose Arch got physical hidden elements located in three levels down into the ground. These are mirrored according to upper land parcels and blocks, streets and entrance gates above and used as parking space for visitors, tenants and residents below. What is above so is below so to speak. Another physical hidden elements located in the underground are: electrical substations connected to municipal greed, emergency generators, civil service lines such as plumbing and sewage, HVAC district cooling plant and cooling towers, fire sprinklers hydrants pumps and valves, server nodes for telecoms and data fiber cables. Precinct Integrated Environment center, called PIE combines set of control room for 800 security cameras surveillance, BMS system collecting information from different type of sensors and meters installed around the precinct, central fire panel connected to every building fire detection systems, building and parking access Data collected during the month is then sent to management to proceed with conversion into information reports to proceed with billing and further analysis and interpretation to decision makers to aid in terms of budgets and further developments on the site.
