In the photo, we can see a steel bar. The photo was taken during a Building Materials class of the Civil Engineering course at my university. We were analyzing the extent to which steel rebars met certain requirements of current standards. A certain number of the rebars analyzed were from China. Brazil exports iron ore, and imports a lot of steel produced in China. Chinese steel is used in large quantities in Brazil, mainly in metallic structures and railroad tracks. It can be concluded, therefore, that building is rarely a localized activity, and has become increasingly globalized.
