Ecosystem services in NYC The biggest example of the ecosystem services in NY come from the parks around the city, especially Central Park. Central Park provides services in the following ways: a. Provisioning services - The park houses the reservoir that is used for much of the water around the city. (of course the husdon river is also a good source of water for the area as well. b. Regulating services - The park is very large and also helps to increase the air quality with the large number of plants and trees inside it. There are also many other small parks around the city as well. c. Habitat or Supporting services - Central park of course also is a great habitat for many different plant and animal species to increase the diversity of the animals living in the city. d. Cultural services - Finally, the park is a great place for recreation as it gives families an area to experience nature and relax away from the concrete streets and buildings.
