**Electricity**: Quebec has 71446 sq miles of lakes which makes it ideal for the 62 hydroelectric plants. Montreal's energy is 95% produced by water. In the future, I hope we move to 100% renewable resources but also diversify away from water (an increasingly tradable scarcity). **Grit**: We have harsh winters here and grit (eg halite) is used to make roads slippery. There are "grit containers" on most city corners. The city maintains a large stock of grit and imports 100s of tons per year. While the grit is a natural product, it gets into places and ecosystems it should not be. Reducing the amount of grit used within the city will cut down on city's environmental impact. **Ornamental Plants**: After the harsh winter, most outdoor plants are dead so there is a large industry of ornamental plant production within Quebec and to sustain a yearly planting. It is a stock that must be renewed yearly. Quebec both exports and imports to the USA and the rest of Canada. A positive future change would be a cultural change away from certain species and towards ones that can survive the rugged winter.
