This picture depicts two different construction materials used in residential zones: sand and lumber. In many cases these materials are sourced internationally. USA imports large amounts of lumber from Canada ($18 billion) and China ($10 billion), and it imports about 5 million metric tons of sand and gravel each year, much of the global sand supply coming from Poyang Lake in China. It is unclear where these specific materials came from, but many residential projects just like this one are built almost entirely from imported goods.
