As you can see in the picture, all the houses around the block have a dependency on the urban electricity infrastructure that provides the city to its inhabitants. There are almost no houses that have their own UPS (uninterruptible power source) or an external power supply that can provide electricity for emergencies. For this reason, having a electrical blackout due to a problem with the electrical infrastructure, has been for a while a common thing that happens in Ecuador.
