La Vega Slum This is the La Vega slum, located in the city of Caracas, Venezuela The visible The formal or planned (distant context) -Residential typology buildings of 12 floors or more. -Commercial and office buildings -Planned walks and tree paths The informal or unplanned (Immediate context of the photo) -Large amount of shabby house -Poor building materials in houses -Houses with 2 floors of height or more -Surface electrical wiring -Blue water containers -Small alleys The Invisible -If there are blue water containers on the roofs, then it means that there is a poor water service or there are no water pipes in the worst case -Overcrowding brings social problems that will affect the immediate environment with an informal economy, saturation of basic services and increased criminal activity. Only in Caracas in 2018-2019 there were 1,617 homicides, the data collected and geospatialized indicated that the murders occur mostly in the slums but also in the vicinity of the slums.
