City depends upon the electricity at a larger scale. The electric supply towards the city is from the power generated in hydroelectric power stations.The electricity is transmitted using the overhead lines crisscrossing each other. The electricity consumption of the city is mostly by the shops, educational institutions etc. The installation of air conditioning systems in hotels, resorts and showrooms have increased the total demand of electricity. With the increase in temperature at present scenario, even the common people are attempting to install air conditioning systems in their houses. In the future, this trend would increase the total energy demand. The solution to reduce the energy demand in short run is to equip centralized air conditioning systems. When analyzing the root cause of this trend, it is the high temperature and humidity. Thus steps to lower the temperature should be planned and implemented in a city scale such as increasing the extent of green spaces, revival of the canal systems etc. Sustainable measures would help us to acquire a livable environment.
