In this picture we can see a house that was built approximately a houndres years ago. It was built using a range of different materials from stones to bricks, concrete, wood and cement. The windows are made out of plastic and glass, the whole facade is plastered and the entrance is covered with asphalt. Although I could focus on the different materials and where they come from or where the products are created and produced I want to put something else in the spotlight. I want to focus on the different technologies that where used to create these materials. For instance cement, concrete, asphalt and plaster contain mostly the same ingredients but are absolutely different in their „behaviour“. That‘s where we can perfectly see the impact of our globalized economy where different technologies are transferred from one country to all others. The materials that are created out of slightly different „recipes“ are each used for its very special purpose for which it works best.
