Based on my experience, here are my 5 major cities that I have visited, in no particular order: Manchester, Paris, Saint jean pied de port, London, Lecce. It is difficult to classify them specifically, because I have spent different periods of time in each, for different reasons, and there are linguistic considerations to consider for some of them too. My 5 factors for including these cities on my list are: Comfort: This also has to do with citizens' acceptance and friendliness / happiness. Climate - Does the climate encourage me to stay out? Transportation: ease of use, costs and availability. Outdoor spaces - Great use of outdoor spaces that flow from one to the other through large parks where you can get lost in long walks and breathe good air. Manchester and London are planned to meet this aspect. Security: I had no problem going out at night in any of these cities and I never felt uncomfortable. I have hopes for the city in which I live, Lecce, but it does not start with many points of advantage over Manchester.
