1: High density cities with hot weather have higher UHI, such as Las Vegas: 7.1. Cities with mild weather and high density have the average UHI such as Los Angeles: 2.4 and New York: 2.5. The interesting thing is UHI in Seattle with mild weather and high density: 4.1 but Austin with hot weather and low density: 0.9. 2: Hot days in summer in Toronto, is because of high UHI. Air pollution in summer is obvious. The average annual temperature is become higher and it is very dangerous. We have heat wave some days and it is the effect of UHI. 3: If I was policy maker, I definitely worked on broader public transportation and public access to that. Less personal vehicle helps to have cleaner weather and lower temperature in summer, also developed more green public spaces. Settle new immigrants in suburbs and prepare remote work due to less commuting and less population in big cities. 4: Not very much. Unfortunately the woods in Toronto are destroying and new buildings appear every year. High rise buildings are become more and more due to more immigrants.
