I don't believe there is any urban design project in my area, as there is little planning and infrastructure in my local town. Houses are built with limited planning permissions, and therefore there is no ruling party in the town to organise these Citizen Science Projects. I would start up a Citizen Science Project by creating an online survey accessible to all those within the area. I would then advertise this survey to ensure the majority of stakeholders took part. The survey would contain questions asking what specifically needed improving and offering them the opportunity to share their ideas on how they believed the matter could be solved. I would then hold a meeting with those who offered good solutions to the issue, to discuss more in depth their solution and ensure it would be effective. Guidelines that are important in a Citizen Design Science project are firstly that you need to ensure there is a large sample size involved in the project, to get a broad range of opinions.
