The self-taken picture shows the insight of a tent at the “Oktoberfest” in Munich. At the Oktoberfest, the flows are the people who are coming to Munich only for the event and leaving afterwards. Those people come from all around the world and are therefore a flow element. Another flow is the food at the event. The food for the event comes from different cities (mostly within Germany) but needs to get transported to the Oktoberfest. Then it gets distributed and sold to the customers. A stock in Munich are hotels, apartments and rooms which are rented to the visitors during the Oktoberfest. These accommodations are everyday available but the demand changes (especially during peak seasons). The stocks and flows shown in the example shows that there are ways to improve the stock and flow and to find a balance within those elements.
