When investigating the related determinations of urbanization and its effect on economic growth in several cross-country and country-level studies , the present paper focuses on micro-level research by considering Punjab Indian states. The empirical findings indicate that as in India, the urban population in Punjab is concentrated in and around Class I cities.Town-wise rainfall has a negative influence on the distance to the nearest railway station from a town, whereas basic infrastructure facilities (i.e. number of schools, latrines, hospital, water availability) have a positive impact on urbanization. Finally, it is finding a positive link in Punjab between urbanization and economic development.
