Römerberg, Frankfurt am Main (Selftaken-Picture) Visible information: - historic buildings & church with a unique facade - a lot of people are walking across the square/standing in groups - restaurants and cafés with the possibility to sit outside on the terrace - some people ( pushing a bike/ stroller) - People are wearing warm clothing: coats, scarves,.. - two water puddles (on the ground). It indicates that it has rained during the day. Invisible Information: You can´t see... - where the people are heading. - if the people walking on the square are tourists or residents from Frankfurt. - how many people are crossing the square (within 24 hours) From Invisible Information to Knowledge: - tracing, WHERE the pedestrians are heading to -> main reason of every person for visiting the square - observing, WHAT people are doing on the square (f.e taking photos, indiviuals just walking/cycling across the square without a break) the activities of each pedestrian can get analyzed. - counting the pedestrians for the first ten minutes of every hour, would give an indication on HOW many people are crossing the square daily. --> Better understanding of citizens needs (f.e creating seating options, installing bicycle parking space)
