FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2020-06-01 by Marcela Leal
In the left side of the picture, it is possible to see some commercial establishments, and it can also be seen that the neighborhood is essentially residential and non-vertical, once there aren’t tall buildings in this area of the city. Furthermore, in the left side of the photo there is an Araucária tree, which brings an invisible information, once this tree is common in subtropical climates. Another invisible information that is present in the photo is that, due to the presence of the Federal University of Paraná in this neighborhood, lots of students and faculty of the institution live nearby. Considering the last piece of information, along with the fact that these people, as well as other students and faculty that live in other regions or cities, have to get from their places to the University and vice-versa, it is created a knowledge about the urban flows that converge to and diverge from the institution at different times of the day. Therefore, this knowledge can be used to improve transportation for all the people that have to get to the University. More bus lines, broader sidewalks and cycle paths are examples of how this could happen.
