The biggest two fossil fuels used in the UK are oil and natural gas. A lot of progress has been made towards using renewables for electricity generation in recent years. With road + residential making up 60% of the UK's energy usage, there is huge scope for improvements by: - switching to electric-powered vehicles and active travel - making new buildings carbon neutral and retro-fitting older buildings - continuing to grow renewable energy in the UK (offshore and onshore wind as the largest contributors but also solar PV, hydro, wave and tidal, plus storage technology) - increasing interconnectors with other countries to better load-balance and add resilience [ Photo: Bramhall Oil terminal]
