Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are still in quarantine, which made it impossible to take a picture of the city, requiring the use of an internet image to illustrate the exercise! Like almost all human interventions in nature, the production of energies causes environmental impacts to a greater or lesser extent, depending on the energy source used. Fossil energy - since besides being the main responsible for the greenhouse effect, they cause atmospheric pollution due to the gases produced in combustion. Hydraulic energy - although it does not cause impacts after being installed, in the construction phase the environmental impacts caused by hydraulic energy sources are significant, since they require flooding of large areas for the construction of the reservoirs, leading to changes in the landscape. In some cases, they also cause social impacts, leading to the removal of riverside communities. Nuclear energy - the waste produced by nuclear energy is highly contaminating, both for the environment and for man, and there is still no alternative for 100% safe disposal. In addition, nuclear power plants are subject to accidents. Biomass - highly promising, since the environmental impacts of biomass energy sources do not cause a greenhouse effect.
