Major energy sources in Germany are still imported oil and gas. Wind and solar power already get promoted by politics in the recent years. To switch to local produced wind and solar power would be a good step to be as well more independent from import of oil and gas. There are several things which could be improved to better integrate renewable energies and reduce the energy demand. Several wind parks are planned and systems to store access heat or seasonal temperature changes like used at ETH Zurich would work well in Germanys temperate climate. Further one energy sink is still transport, mainly cars using fossil fuel. The infrastructure to use electric cars (with electricity produced by solar and wind power) have to be pushed forward. Projects to install charging station should be better promoted.
