This is a night caption of the Las Vegas Boulevard better known as the Strip. This was taken during the state shutdown due to Covid-19. We can see a multi lane avenue, traffic lights, city lights, crosswalks, safety poles, the Paris Hotel, different buildings, shops and wide sidewalks. Two invisible info are traffic flow and air quality.Las Vegas is equipped with a high number of traffic light cameras and air sensors. A group of companies working together on big data and Iot aggregate the data of all connected vehicles from smart devices, camera feeds from traffic lights, and pavement sensors. Some main data points are speed of vehicles, volume of traffic, time of day among a multitude of other data entry points. Once the data is organized and compiled in a pertinent way, AI powered programs are able to predict patterns and create models to improve traffic flow at peak hours and offer a smoother ride to daily commuters. This is a great example of innovative tools capable of aggregating, compiling and modeling at such a high capacity that it produces an immediate and impactful change and bring better quality life for the Las Vegas city dwellers.
