The numerous ecosystem services provided by my area are: 1) Provisioning services- Various raw materials, like wood, leaves, bark, twigs are provided by plants in my area for domestic and commercial use. Animals like hens, goats are also raised nearby, thus serving as sources of food. Many plants in the region have medicinal value as well. 2) Regulating services- Number of regulating services are provided by the ecosystem surrounding me. That includes cleaning of air, prevention of soil erosion, sequestration of carbon, moderation of flood and rain water, acting as buffer to strong winds, and pollination by the trees. The animals of the region play an integral part in maintaning the food chain of the region. 3) Habitat/ supporting services- The plants in our region provide food and shelter to variety of birds, insects and animals. Consequently, they help in maintaining the genetic diversity of flora and fauna in the region. 4)Cultural services- The ecosystem around us is a great source of relaxation and spirituality. The flora and faun connects us to the nature, provides opportunities for recrational activities like sports, jogging etc and gives peace of mind.
