Livability relates to a fulfilling life within the community and area that you call home. Are you close to work opportunities? Is it affordable to live? Does the community have amenities?, A social framework? Locally owned shops and services? Does the community reflect your values? environmentally? politically? 1. Opportunity 2. Neighbourhood 3. Housing 4. Environment 5. Transportation 6. Engagement 7. Health I chose Detroit, Seattle and Chicago City / Livability Score / Custom Score / Change Detroit / 47 / 49 / +2 Seattle / 63 / 61 / -2 Chicago / 54 / 55 / +1 I think the main factor in the Seattle and Detroit scores is the importance of housing to me. Since it is much more affordable to live in Detroit and quite difficult to find housing in Seattle. It balances off with the opportunity, neighbourhoods are vastly different between the two cities. I was surprised at how low the livability index was for Chicago, since I consider it to be a liveable city. Since they have a interest in environmental factors and have a good transport and opportunity. perhaps it’s the cost of living and community engagement that keep the numbers down compared to mine.
