In New York City some of the most obvious examples of stocks and flows are People, Food, and Land People: There is a constant influx of tourists and immigrants in NYC which defines much of how the city is built and functions, with a lot of the city being designed to accommodate tourists and a diversity in the types of businesses throughout the city. As the flow of people changes in the city, different areas are transformed which leads to things like the gentrification of certain neighborhoods Food: Because of the density of the city, there is a lack of arable land and therefore food must be transported into the city from the surrounding areas. With Urban Farming these stocks and flows will change and have an effect on the food supply within the city Land: Due to the small stock of land in NYC, the city has a high density and must rely on importing many raw materials. Land resources are also changing as land is created along the coasts to build parks and buildings where they were unable to be built previously
